I'm New
We are a caring and inclusive community of faith offering a place for everyone, whether in a worship service, Church School class, Bible study, fellowship group, or outreach team. We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Our mission statement, "Inspiring Disciples...Engaging the World," lives into an interpretation of this expressed mission and best exemplifies the simple, yet profound goals we have as a community of faith. The best way to learn about First Presbyterian Church is to come and experience for yourself — through worship, study, outreach, friendships, and more — what a vibrant and meaningful community we are.
Below is more information about frequently asked questions. If you would like to know more, we invite you to email the Rev. Dr. Michael Waschevski. Michael can help you become familiar with FPC and find your place among the community.
When are your worship services and what are they like?
Worship is offered in-person each Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Great Hall, and 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary, at 11 a.m. via livestream. Weekly worship with dinner is offered at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Community Crossroads. (8 a.m. worship in the Chapel is currently suspended during Chapel renovation. Expected completion is fall 2023.) Learn about the unique style of each of these services, as well as other weekly and monthly services, here.
What should I wear?
FPC wants you to feel welcome to come and worship as you are. Most people come in business casual attire, but you'll also see three-piece suits or jeans and T-shirts.
Where do I park?
FPC provides ample parking in two lots, one in front of our main campus and one just to the north of Texas Street. Spots are marked and designated for handicap parking as well as parking for those 70-years-old and older (directly in front of the Office and Chapel). In addition, designated visitor parking is available (directly across the street from the main Sanctuary entrance). Please watch for posted signage and park clear of crosswalks so that pedestrians and those mobility impaired can cross safely.
Is childcare provided during Worship?
We currently offer limited childcare for 9 and 11 a.m worship and for the 10 a.m. hour (church school/music participants) for infants through 24 months old (room 217) and 25 months through 4 years old (room 213). Children of all ages are welcome in worship and are invited to worship with their families.
Does the church offer Church School classes?
Yes. A variety of Adult Church School classes meet each Sunday from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Led by clergy, gifted church members, and guest teachers from the community, faith is nurtured through Bible study, theological reflection, and meaningful and respectful dialog and conversation. For a list of classes and how to join, click here.
How do I get connected and learn more about the church?
FPC is a large community to navigate. However, there are many small group opportunities for study, fellowship, and service. It's easy to get connected! Contact Discipleship Coordinator Chris Bartley, 817.335.1231 ext. 252. Learn more about the ministries of FPC by clicking here.
