Karl Travis, Pastor

Karl Travis became First Presbyterian Church's Pastor, Head of Staff, in 2007.

He was Pastor, Head of Staff, at Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church in Grosse Ile, Mich., for seven years before coming to Fort Worth. Prior to that call, Karl was Pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Roswell, N.M., for eight years.

Karl is a fourth-generation Presbyterian pastor and a native Texan. He grew up in the west Texas community of Tulia.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Trinity University in San Antonio, studied at San Francisco Theological Seminary, and was awarded an Honours B.D. from The University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Karl is a gifted preacher, and delights in fellowship with people of all ages. He is noted in our denomination for his work with 'generations' studies and with stewardship. Committed to our denomination, Karl has served at every level of the larger church, is a frequent conference speaker and workshop leader, and currently chairs a committee of the General Assembly Council.  He has three children who attend Fort Worth public schools.
