Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid

June 27-July 1
9 a.m. to Noon

Come along on a Holy Land Adventure this summer. At Hometown Nazareth, everyone will get to explore the culture of Jesus’ boyhood. Too often, the Bible just feels like an old history book. After all, those things did happen a long time ago! Kids and adults might sometimes forget that Jesus was a boy who had a family, friends, neighbors, a home and a church. At Hometown Nazareth, kids and adults get to meet Mary and hear about Jesus’ boyhood from her perspective. Kids and adults also visit the Marketplace where everyday life in Nazareth comes alive right before their eyes. By spending time in Hometown Huddle, children will get to know their “family” members as they talk more about the day’s activities in this small setting. An overview of the daily theme is at the right.

Day One
Jesus had a family….we do too. (Luke 1:26-38)

Day Two
Jesus had a name …we do too. (Luke 2:1-40)

Day Three
Jesus had a home…we do too. (Matt. 2:13-14, 19-23)

Day Four
Jesus went to church…we do too. (Luke 2:41-52)

Jesus served others…we do too. (John 2:1-12)

Elementary Music & Arts Camp: Welcome to the Jungle!

Welcome to the jungle! Set against the African Serengeti of Tanzania and Kenya, a single small Elementary Music & Arts Campmouse finds herself in the paws of a hungry lion. On a whim, the lion lets the mouse go and then sets about his merry way. Unfortunately, poachers have been putting up traps, and before he knows it the lion is caught and bound in nasty ropes, high above the ground. To his rescue comes the little mouse. She nibbles the ropes until they give way and frees the lion.

The Lion and the Mouse is one of the most beloved of Aesop’s fables.

This enchanting tale delights readers of all ages. Our musicians will not only expand their musical palette but learn a few valuable lessons along the way!

We offer six classes each day, in several areas of the arts, for both the experienced and beginner. Our goal is to have our campers go home at the end of every day rejoicing in their creativity. Campers  attend classes in art, choir, dance, Orff instruments (pitched rhythm instruments), and handbells or chimes. Younger campers enjoy one class of recreation. Children completing 4th and 5th grade will also select a master class in which to focus their artistic energies during the week:  guitar, drumming, art master class, or our photography class, Click-It.
