Addressing the Homelessness Issue

First Presbyterian Church’s largest mission effort focuses on helping the city’s homeless population through support of and provision of services to people who need it most.

FPC is a founder and longtime supporter of the Presbyterian Night Shelter, which supplies meals, beds and basic human care to an average of 704 homeless men and women every night and approximately 3,040 unique clients annually. The shelter also features a separate housing unit for women with children.

Each Monday during the hottest and coldest months of the year, the church hosts homeless men at Room in the Inn, which allows participants to spend the night out of the elements while enjoying basic comforts: nutritious food, showers, a safe, comfortable place to sleep and fellowship with caring individuals.

Additionally, the church has created multiple task forces as it remains committed to be a leader in Fort Worth’s efforts to end homelessness. Through these task forces, church members and staff work with other churches, civic organizations and city government to identify which services are most needed and work together in meeting those needs.
