Worship Services
First Presbyterian offers many times of worship throughout the week. In addition to our four Sunday worship services, we also offer morning prayer and mid-day prayer. Special services of worship are celebrated throughout the calendar year, and evening prayer is offered in the Chapel at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent.
Parking for the physically challenged is available at the entrances for all worship areas. Worship areas in the Great Hall, Chapel and Sanctuary are wheelchair
accessible and personal sound systems and large-print bulletins are also available.
Children of all ages are always welcome to worship with us. The Childcare Center, located on the second floor, is available during all worship and education hours on Sundays. Special children's worship bags containing crayons, paper and quiet activity booklets are located outside each worship space.
During the 11 a.m. service of worship we have a “Moment with the Children” when all children are invited to come to the front of the Sanctuary for a special message. Following this time, children ages five and younger who would prefer not to stay in worship are invited to attend “Kids Korral.” Church staff members will escort the children to another room for activities. Elementary age children are encouraged to remain in the worship area for the remainder of the service.
Throughout the year, we worship in special ways...
Youth Sunday and Children’s Sabbath celebrate the gifts and contributions of our children and youth. These services are led entirely by the young people of our church, from singing and liturgy to scripture readings.
Kirkin’ of the Tartans, held annually in February, celebrates the Presbyterian Church’s Scottish heritage. A colorful procession of tartan banners opens this very special service and afternoon, which includes everything from bagpipes to shortbread!
Holy Week services are held each year during the week preceding Easter. Each day brings a morning prayer service followed by fellowship, a noon service followed by a fellowship lunch, and various evening services held throughout the week. Easter Sunday rounds out Holy Week with a sunrise service and fellowship breakfast, along with later morning services.
Christmas Eve brings a multitude of services. From an early evening, family-oriented service, to a late evening candlelight service, we offer something for everyone on this special night.
