First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth
Worship
Our Sunday morning worship is celebrated at 8:15, 9:00, 10:55 and 11:00 a.m.
First Presbyterian offers many times of worship throughout the week. We have four services on Sunday morning. Our traditional worship services are at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel and 10:55 a.m. in the Sanctuary. We also offer a 9:00 a.m. worship service in the Great Hall with a casual atmosphere and a blend of music styles. Childcare is available during the 9:00 and 10:55 services. There is also an 11:00 service at Hemphill Presbyterian Fellowship, 1701 Hemphill, Fort Worth. The sacraments of the Lord's Supper and Baptism are celebrated regularly. Other services of worship include morning prayer, mid-day prayer and evening prayer. Special services of worship are celebrated throughout the calendar year. Evening Prayer is offered in the Chapel at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays during Advent and Lent.
Parking spaces for the physically challenged are available at the entrances for all worship areas. Our facility is wheelchair accessible. Personal sound systems and enlarged print bulletins are also available.
Children of all ages are always welcome at all services of worship. The Childcare Center, located on the second floor, is available during all worship and education hours on Sundays. Special children's worship bags containing crayons, paper and quiet activity booklets are located outside each worship space. During the 10:55 service of worship we have a "Moment with the Children" when all children are invited to come to the front of the Sanctuary for a special message. Following this time, children ages five and younger, who would prefer not to stay in worship, are invited to attend "Kids Korral." Church staff members will escort the children to another room for activities. Elementary age children are encouraged to remain in the worship area for the remainder of the service.
Throughout the year, we worship in special ways... Youth
Sunday and Children's Sabbath celebrate the gifts and contributions of our children and youth. These services are led entirely by the young people of our church - from singing and liturgy to scripture readings.
Kirkin' of the Tartans, held annually in February, celebrates the Presbyterian Church's heritage in Scotland. A colorful procession of tartan banners opens this very special service and afternoon, which includes everything from bagpiping to shortbread!
Holy Week services are held each year during the week preceding Easter. Each day brings a morning prayer service followed by fellowship, a noon service followed by a fellowship lunch, with various evening services held throughout the week. Easter Sunday rounds out Holy Week with a sunrise service and fellowship breakfast, along with later morning services.
Christmas Eve brings a multitude of services. From early evening family-oriented service, to a special communion service, to a late evening candlelight service, we offer something for everyone on this special night.
